Where to Start in AI
For non-techs like me
For most Non-Techs (like myself), the topic of AI only came into reality with the release of Chat GPT in 2022. A relatively short time ago, yet already that subject has become fraught with so many variations, options, consequential choices and broligarch wars.
All we know for sure, because we're being reminded of it daily, is that we need to get on the AI train or risk getting left behind (thanks to the media for all those constant thinly veiled threats).
So that just leaves two questions for us ordinary mortals to grapple with;
Where is our AI jump-off point ? ie. what tech to use – what platforms?
When to jump off into AI ?
“The when” is obviously a personal choice for each of us. The conventional wisdom tells us that the best day to start was probably yesterday, and the second best day is today. But my slightly more nuanced angle would be that it's whenever is the optimal time for each of us. Whenever that handy opportunity to get going, just clicks and presents itself. In my case it’s my uptake of the Digital Transformation course at #TUSdx
On the where to jump off question / what tech to use – that’s where it gets a little more complicated. Which is why I propose to use this page to help advise other non-tech users like me to get their heads around what to do next. So fasten your seat belts for the next 5 months (and beyond no doubt).
One thing is for sure, whatever the outcome in the jostling for position, the impact on job-seekers of the future will certainly be massive. As part of my role with Midlandjobs.ie I attended the launch of the new TUS Careers and Employability service yesterday in Athlone – pictured above. I couldn’t help wondering exactly what the implications will be for the students attending once they graduate – nothing short of game-changing would be my guess. Watch this space.

Tom I think A.I. will have a huge impact on jobseekers in the future and also for employers
